Our levels are as follows: Moms and Tots age 2-3+, Preschool age 3+, Beginner Combo age 4-5, Prelim, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5, Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced One, Advanced Two, and Professional.

Our teen classes are designed for older students who are at a beginner level but do not want to begin with younger students. We offer adult programs for both beginner and experienced dancers.

Our Instructors

Ginny Lewis F.N.A.T.D
Ginny began her teaching career in England after studying dance from a young age. She immigrated to and after moving to Kamloops, founded Kamloops Dance Academy in 1984. Ginny teaches in all disciplines and is revered for her expertise and choreography.
Sandi Lewis F.N.A.T.D
Sandi has been dancing from the age of 3 and teaching from the age of 16. Sandi began her dance career on the North Island before moving to Kamloops and studying under Ginny. Sandi took over as Artistic Director of the studio in 2001 and teaches all disciplines.
Catrina Barber A.N.A.T.D
"Cat" re-joins our team this fall after returning from Toronto where she has been dancing professionally for the last 2 years. We are excited to welcome her home and look forward to her energy and enthusiasm.
Stacy Kozak M.N.A.T.D
Stacy has been dancing with us from a very young age and also obtained her first qualification in 2001. Her quiet, gentle style is her signature.
Jen Herman A.N.A.T.D.
Jen has danced with us for 17 years and also recently gained her professional qualification. Jen has a special flare for the adult classes and is a welcome addition to our team.
Krista-Rae Dorman A.N.A.T.D
Krista recently obtained her first professional qualification, but is no stranger to KDA. She has also danced with us since she was 3. We are proud to welcome her to our team.
Erin Goode
Erin grew up dancing at Kamloops Dance Academy and we are pleased to welcome her to our team this year. She is energetic and kind hearted and will fit in perfectly at our studio. Welcome Erin!
Liz Ioannidis
Liz has been dancing at the studio for years and always brings a smile along with her to class. Liz is currently working on her first professional qualification and will take her first teaching exam in November.
Nikolina Ruzic
Nikolina is also working on her first professional qualification and will be another welcome addition to our team. She is hard working and kind and enjoys passing on her love for dance to the children.

About the NATD

About the Kamloops Dance Academy

The National Association of Teachers of Dancing is based out of London, England. The Association is one of the biggest in Europe and has schools worldwide. NATD offers syllabi and examinations in Ballet, Tap, Modern Stage, Freestyle, (Lyrical and Hip Hop) Ballroom and Acro. It offers the widest range of syllabi and is a strong backing for overseas memebers such as us. Kamloops Dance Academy brings an examiner from the NATD every year and a half for examination purposes.

Our Time Table

About the Kamloops Dance Academy

We begin classes in September and run two terms. Our fall term runs from September10th to December 22nd. Examinations this year will be November 26th to December 1st. December 22nd we break for Christmas and begin our Spring term January 7th which runs twenty-five weeks until June 21rd. Our Spring production is in May and classes continue after the show. Some younger classes are involved in Christmas shows which are held at various retirement homes in Kamloops.

Dress Code

Ballet
bodysuit and tights with tight, proper warm up clothes only. A skirt may o may not be worn according to the discretion of the teacher. Ballet shoes and/or pointe shoes.
Jazz
bodysuit and jazz pants only. Warm ups must be removed early in the class. jazz shoes for grade two and higher or bare feet.
Tap
bodysuit and jazz pants only. Tight fitting warms ups acceptable (at the discretion of the teacher) and Tap shoes.
Hip Hop
This is the only discipline in which baggy clothing may be worn. Clean, white soled running shoes must also be worn. ABSOLUTELY NO OUTDOOR SHOES PLEASE.

The teacher has the right at any time to excuse a student from class who is improperly dressed. Dress code will be strictly enforced this year, so please be prepared in September.

There is absolutely NO GUM or food permitted in class
